Effects of ganglioside combined with vidarabine on serum selectin and immunoglobulin in the children with viral encephalitis

Objective:To explore the effects of ganglioside combined with vidarabine on the expression of serum selectin and immunoglobulin in the children with viral encephalitis.Methods:100 children with viral encephalitis treated in Huaxi Guang’an Hospital from December 2017 to December 2019 were enrolled and divided into the control group and the observation group by random number table,each consisting of 50.The patients in the observation group were treated with ganglioside combined with vidarabine,while the patients in the control group were treated with vidarabine alone.Cinical symptoms of the patients were evaluated and serum levels of neuron specific enolase(NSE),S100βprotein,myelin basic protein(MBP),L-selectin,P-selectin,immunoglobulin IgA,IgE,IgG and IgM were detected and compared between the two groups.Adverse drug reactions(ADRs)were monitored and statistically analyzed during medication.Results:After treatment,the total efficacy rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(98.00%vs 82.00%,P<0.05).The vomiting remission time,consciousness recovery time,fever reduction time,headache relief time and mental symptom relief time in the patients of the observation group were significantly shorter than those of the control group(P<0.05).After treatment,the serum concentration levels of NSE,S100βand MBP in both groups were significantly lower than those before treatment,with those of the observation group being significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The serum levels of L-selectin and P-selectin in the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P<0.05).The levels of immunoglobulin IgG in the two groups significantly increased after treatment(P<0.05),with the serum IgG of the observation group being significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05).No significant differences could be found in IgE,IgA and IgM both before and after treatment,when comparisons were made between the two groups(P>0.05).Marked differences could neither be noted in ADRs,when comparisons were made between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion:In treatment of children with viral encephalitis,ganglioside combined with vidarabine could effectively improve clinical symptoms and nerve injury,reduce the level of serum selectin,increase the serum level of IgG,enhance immune function and improve clinical efficacy with good safety.
