Pseudocarcinomatous invasion of colonic polyps

The recently described but little-recognized entity of “pseudocarcinomatous invasion” or “epithelial misplacement” in adenomatous polyps of the colon and rectum is discussed, with the presentation of a recent case. The entity's clinical characteristics, histologic features, and pathogenesis are described. The implications of recognizing such a lesion are emphasized.
