The application of conventional MRI combined with ADCmin in orbital solitary fibrous tumor

Objective To analyze the manifestations of the conventional MRI and the minimum apparent diffusion coefficient (ADCmin) of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) of the orbital solitary fibrous tumor (SFT),so as to help with the diagnosis of SFT.Methods The MRI data of 25 patients with orbital SFT who had pathological results in Huzhou Central Hospital and Eye &ENT Hospital of Fudan University from October 2014 to August 2019 were retrospectively analyzed.For all of them,Conventional MRI and DWI were performed before surgery,and the minimum ADC value of the parenchyma of the lesion was collected as ADCminof which statistical analysis was performed.Results Except 3 cases of adhesion to the adjacent external rectus muscle,all the boundaries were clear.There were 11 cases of small cystic degeneration.As far as T1WI was concerned,14 cases were isointense,8 were slightly hypointense,and 3 were slightly hyperintense.As far as T2WI was concerned,22 cases were slightly hyperintense or hyperintense (among which 15 cases had low signals),and 3 cases were isointense.As far as DWI was concerned,22 cases were with mild or obvious limitation,only 3 cases were without limitation,12 lesions were with vascular flow shadow around,and after enhancement,all lesions were obviously enhanced,and some of them showed something similar to angioid enhancement.The average ADCminvalue was(0.80±0.23)×10-3 mm2/s.10 cases were accompanied by compression and absorption of the sclerotin of adjacent bones.Conclusion MRI manifestations of orbital SFT have certain characteristics.Conventional MRI combined with ADCminvalue is helpful for the diagnosis.
