| Abstract: | A series of factors contributed to the booming of the study of Mencius in the Qing Dynasty. The booming of the study of Mencius were influenced by factors like politics, economy, academics, culture, science and technology of that time, as well as the studies of Mencius during the Tang, Song and Ming dynasties. Moreover, the study of Confucian classics, the imperial examination system and the craze for Four Books in the Qing Dynasty gave impetus to the study of Mencius. |
