Observation on Therapeutic Effect of Prophylactic Use of Rhubarb on Gastrointestinal Hemorrhage in Patients During Acute Stage of Cerebral Stroke

Objective：To observe the prophylaxis effect of rhubarb on gastrointestinal hemorrhage in patients during acute stage of cerebral stroke.Methods：Sixty-six cases with acute stage of cerebral stroke were divided into routine treatment group（30 cases）and Rhubarh treatment group（36 cases）randomly.Patients in routine treatment group were treated with Famotidine 20 mg by intravenous infusion twice a day.Patients in Rhubarb group were treated with 2g Rhubarb by nasogastric tube three times a day on the base of routine treatment.Gastrointestinal hemorrhage was observed 7 days after treatments.Results：The incidence of gastrointestinal hemorrhage in Rhubarb group（8.3%）was significantly lower than that in routine treatment group（30%）（P0.05）.Conclusion：Application of Rhubarb is an effective and safe method for prophylactic treatment of gastrointestinal hemorrhage in patients with acute stage of cerebral stroke.
