Correlation analysis between venous blood glucose and peripheral blood glucose in burn patients

Objective To monitor the blood glucose concentration, and then provide the scientific evidence of diagnosis and treatment for burn patients in time. Methods Using the same glucose meter to monitor the intravenous glucose and the peripheral glucose respectively for the same patient in the same time, and then compared the difference of them. The blood glucose samples were taken from 71 burn patients and 50 outpatients. Results There were significant difference between the intravenous glucose and the peripheral glucose, P<0.01. There were linear correlation between the intravenous glucose and the peripheral glucose not only in the 71 burn patients, but also in the 50 outpatients, r=0.939 and 0.916 respectively, the liner equations were Y=0.889+0.959X and Y=0.211+1.069X respectively. Conclusion The peripheral blood glucose value can be changed into the intravenous blood glucose value by the linear equation, which can show the blood-sugar concentration more exactly.
