| Abstract: | Objective:To compare the clinical and pathological features of multifocal papillary thyroid carcinoma (MPTC) and solitary papillary thyroid carcinoma (SPTC).Methods:The clinical and pathological data of 43 patients with MPTC and 78 patients with SPTC who were surgically treated and pathologically confirmed in our hospital were retrospectively analysed.Results:There were no significant differences between the two groups in gender,age,Hashimoto's thyroiditis and nodular goiter,proportion of microcarcinoma,and pathological stage (P＞0.05).Age,extra-glandular infiltration rate,lymph node metastasis rate,surgical complication rate and postoperative hypocalcemia rate in MPTC group were higher than SPTC group,and the difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05).Conclusion:MPTC is older and more prone to extra-glandular infiltration and lymph node metastasis.Total thyroidectomy and central lymph node dissection are recommended. |
