Abstract:Influenza A virus is a pathogen causing zoonotic diseases, such as seasonal influenza and human infection with animal-derived influenza virus. The virus has characteristics including strong infectivity, a high mutation rate and high potential for harm. It has long been a focus of personnel monitoring and research. Hemagglutinin, an important glycoprotein on the surface of the virus, plays a prominent role in the influenza virus life cycle, variation and evolution, and host tropism, as well as in the monitoring and inspection of prevention and control measures and the development of anti-influenza drugs. Therefore, this paper reviews the research progress in hemagglutinin in recent years according to four aspects—morphological structure, function, variation and evolution, and drugs—to improve knowledge and understanding of hemagglutinin by researchers and the public and provide a reference for prevention and treatment.
