Abstract:In pregnancies with multiple gestation, an adverse outcome isdirectly proportional to the number of fetuses within the uterus, primarily because of an increased predisposition to prematuredelivery. Although there is a good deal of information aboutmultifetal reduction in triplets and quadruplets and even quintuplets, there is very little on sextuplets, and virtually nothing onseptuplets. Among the different techniques proposed for selectivetermination, two approaches have been more widely adopted: transcervicalaspiration and transabdominal needling of the embryo using greyscale ultrasonography, but as yet there is no report on multifetalreduction using colour Doppler ultrasound. A method for selectivetermination of multiple pregnancy using transabdominal colourDoppler ultrasonography has been described here for the firsttime in a case of septuplets.
