10 Cases of Child Intussusceptions with Severe Complications during and after Air Enema

Objective To explore the cause,prevention and treatment of severe complications during and after performing air enema in child intussusceptions.Methods 10 cases of child intussusceptions,who had severe complications during and after performing air enema,were analysed.Results Among them,6 cases had intestinal rupture(1 case died from intestinal rupture);3 cases had cardiac and respiratory sudden arrest(2 cases were successfully rescued and finally cured by operation,1 case died);1 case died at 2 hours after successful reduction.Conclusion When performing air enema in children with intussusceptions,the course of disease,vital signs,mental condition,emergency biochemical tests and physical examination of abdomen should be carefully evaluated;To reduce the occurence of complications in child intussusceptions,doctors should pay attention to the adjustment of air pressure and carefully observed the changes of vital signs of children during air enema treatment.
