Abstract:Streptococcus agalactiae (S agalactiae) is a germ habitually associated with infections in neonates and women during the pregnancy and the immediate puerperiumum. S. agalactiae has also been related with bacteriemias, endocarditis and bone, joint, skin and soft tissues infections in adults with concomitant diseases and even in immunocompetent patients. In the last years more than 70 cases of septic arthritis in adults due to this germ have been communicated. We present two cases of axial and peripheral joint infection due to S. agalactiae, comparing finds, treatment and evolution with the cases published until April, 2008.
