Abstract:Objective To investigate the changes of T lymphocyte subsets in SARS patients and its significance. Methods Lymphocyte subsets were detected by flow cytometry while the quantity and catalogue of leukocytes were detected with automatic blood cell analyzer in peripheral blood of 44 SARS patients and controls. Results Compared with those of the controls, the quantity of leukocytes and lymphocytes in SARS patients decreased significantly; the proportion of neutrophil increased significantly, but the absolute count of neutrophil decreased significantly; the absolute count of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ lymphocytes decreased significantly; and no significant changes found in the proportion of CD3+, CD4+, and CD8+ lymphocyte and ratio of CD4+/CD8+. Conclusion SARS-CoV evidently damages cellular immunity of the patients with SARS.
Keywords:SARS  Cellular immunity  T lymphocyte subsets  Flow cytometry
