Effect of AME on intracellular cyclic nucleotides levels in human lymphocytes

Intracellular cyclic nucleotides are related to immune function,Alternariol monomethylether(AME)is one of the mycotoxins from the main contaminative fungus.Alternaria alternataisolated from the mouldy grain in Linxian County where high incidence of esophageal cancer wasfound in Henan province.It has been shown that AME has mutagenicity and carcinogenicity. Theeffect of AME on intrilcellular cyclic nucleotides levels(in vitro)of human lymphocytes wasinvestigated.Results showed that AME could increase thc cAMP levels 1.5 to 2.0 times withdifferent concentration at different time points,and at the same time point with increase of AMEconcentration there was an enhance tendency. But therc was not any significant effect of AME oncGMP levels.The date suggested that AME could inhibit cellular immune by increasing the cAMPlevels in human lymphocytes.
