Effects of external application of Sanyu Xiaotong powder on postoperative wound healing and quality of life in patients with low simple anal fistula

Objective It is to observe the clinical curative effect of external application of Sanyu Xiaotong powder in the treatment of patients with low simple anal fistula after surgery and its effect on wound healing and quality of life. Methods Seventy patients with low simple anal fistula who were treated in the Department of Anus and Proctology, Shuguang Hospital Affiliated to Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine were from July 2019 to July 2020 were randomly divided into a control group of 35 cases and an observation group of 35 cases. The control group was given routine postoperative treatment in anorectal department, the observation group was additionally given external application of Sanyu Xiaotong powder, and both groups were treated for 2 weeks. The clinical curative effect, wound healing area, healing rate, and healing time were compared between the two groups, and the pain scores, wound exudate scores, granulation growth scores, and scores of quality of life(SF-36) were evaluated on the 3 rd, 7 th, and 14 th days of treatment in the two groups, and the occurrence of adverse reactions was recorded. Results After 2 weeks of treatment, the total effective rate was 88.6%(31/35) in the observation group and 68.5%(24/35) in the control group, and the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(P<0.05). The wound healing area and healing rate in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P all<0.05), and the wound healing time was significantly shorter than that in the control group(P<0.05). On the 7 th and 14 th days of treatment, the pain scores, wound exudate scores, and granulation growth scores of the two groups were significantly lower than those on the 3 rd(P all<0.05), and the scores in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group(P all<0.05);there was nosignificant difference in the scores of mental health, cognitive function, physiological function, and social function in SF-36 on the 3 rd day between the two groups(P>0.05), but the scores on the 7 th and 14 th days were significantly higher than those on the 3 rd day(P all<0.05), and the scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P all<0.05). The incidence of adverse reactions in the observation group and the control group were 14.3%(5/35) and 31.4%(11/35), respectively, and the observation group was significantly lower than the control group(P<0.05). Conclusion External application of Sanyu Xiaotong powder can effectively promote wound healing, relieve symptoms and improve quality of life with high safety in patients with low simple anal fistula resection after surgery.
