Good is never enough for P4P

As the CMS-Premier pay-for-performance demonstration project reaches another milestone, participating hospitals find that just meeting quality measures is no longer adequate. They must excel to remain in the top tier of hospitals and qualify for the rewards of P4P. In a series of case studies, four hospitals describe their experiences as part of the CMS-Premier pilot and share lessons learned--good and bad--with hospitals bracing for the pay-for-performance era.
