Incidence of elevated serum amylase levels and pancreatitis after upper abdominal surgery |

| Abstract: | A group of 100 consecutive patients undergoing upper abdominal surgery at our hospital was evaluated during the postoperative period for elevation of the serum amylase level. Six patients in the group had significantly elevated serum amylase levels, and only one patient had clinical postoperative pancreatitis. |
