Abstract:To observe the changes of plasma procalcitonin (PCT), soluble intercellular adhesion molcule-1(sICAM-1)levels in patients with liver cirrhosis (LC) and their clinical significance. Plasma PCT and sICAM-1 levels in 78 LC patients and in 30 normal controls (NC) were measured by immunoluminometric assay and ELISA, respectively. Plasma PCT?sICAM-1 levels of LC were significantly higher than those in NC, higher in decompensated phase than those in compensated phase (P<0.01) and with positive relationship. Plasma PCT?sICAM-1 levels increased gradually in pace with the progression of Child grading. Plasma PCT levels positively correlated with serum TBil levels, negatively correlated with PTa. Plasma sICAM-1 levels positively correlated with serum TBil and ALT levels, and negatively correlated with PTa. Plasma PCT sICAM-1 levels can reflect the degree of hepatocellular injury.
Keywords:liver cirrhosis  procalcitonin  soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1
