Liquid biopsy technique-the bridge to precision medical

Tissue biopsy is regarded as the standard diagnostic procedure for cancers.However,tissue biopsy-based cancer diagnostic procedures limits in assessment of cancer development and prognosis as tumor heterogeneity and evolution.Liquid biopsy represents a technique that detect biological characteristics molecules of the primary tumor in patients' body fluid,such as circulating tumor cells,circulating tumor DNA,and exosomes,etc.Liquid biopsy is widely used as auxiliary diagnosis,efficacy evaluation,predicting prognosis,monitoring recurrence and metastasis,assisting targeted therapy.In this paper,the advancements in biological characteristics and clinical application of liquid biopsy are reviewed.
