Retroperitoneal laparoscopic ureterolithotomy for impacted upper ureteral calculi:a report of 16 cases

Objective：To investigate the clinical efficacy and summarize of the experience of the retroperitoneal laparoscopic technique in the treatment of impacted upper ureteral calculi.Methods：Clinical data of 16 patients with upper ureteral calculi who were treated with retroperitoneal laparoscopic technique from Jun.2007 to May 2010 were analyzed retrospectively.Results：All patients were treated successfully.Mean operation time was 104.6min（range,60-150min）.Mean stay hospital was 5.5d（range,4-11d）.No serious complications were noted.Conclusions：Retroperitoneal laparoscopic technique is effective,minimally invasive with rapid postoperative recovery for impacted upper ureteral calculi.It may be an alternative to open surgery and other mini-invasive methods.
