Abstract: | The diagnosis of purpura fulminans was associated with three cases of early-onset group B beta-hemolytic streptococcal (GBS) disease. All three infants had confirmed bacterial disease, extensive purpuric lesions involving the extremities, and laboratory evidence of a consumptive coagulopathy. All three children survived but had markedly compromised neurologic outcomes. Purpura fulminans has not been previously reported with early-onset GBS disease. |
