Abstract: | A case-control study was performed on cancer of the nose, nasal cavities, middle ear and accessory sinuses from 1982 through 1984 in Hokkaido. Maxillary sinus cancer accounted for 84% of this cancer in men and 87% in women. Histologically, squamous cell cancer was observed in 91% of the men and 83% of the women. The age-standardized incidence rates of this cancer were 1.3 per 100,000 for men and 0.4 for women. These figures were compared with the age-standardized mortality rates of this cancer for 1975 and 1980 by sex. |
