Abstract:Objective To observe the application value of high frequency linear probe (HFLP) and low-frequency convex array (LFCP) in examing vertebral artery. Methods A total of 304 VA in 152 patients were examined by HFLP and LFCP, the two -dimensional imaging and color Doppler flow imaging (CDFI)of vertebral artery at Vland V2 segment bewteen the two probes were compared , then the positive results of blood vessels were compared with those of MRA. Results With HFLP and LFCP, the V1 display rate of two - dimensional imaging and CDFI was 0.87 ±0. 34,0.83 ± 0.37 ;0.72 ± 0.45, 0.95±0. 21. The V2 display rate was 3.48 ±0. 66,3.37 ± 0.75;3.19 ± 0.78,4.11 ± 0.62. There was significant difference of display rate between two probes ( P 〈 0.01 ) , there was no significant difference of V1 and V2 display rate between two dimensional imaging and CDFI by HFLP ( P 〉 0.05 ), while there was significant difference by LFCP ( P 〈0. 05 ). Compared with MRA, the positive rate of HFLP and LFCP was 86.02% and 89.25% , respectively, the false positive rate of HFLP and LFCP was 23.81% and 18.63%. Conclusion CDFI can clearly show blood flow signals in the initial segment of V1 and upper V2 with LFCP, which can make up the shortage of HFLP. Routine application of CDFI with LFCP can correct false positive results of HFLP and improve the accuracy of ultrasound in diagnosis of vertebral artery disease.
