Abstract: | Objective To evaluate the relationships between unhealthy lifestyle and abnormal fasting blood glucose (FBG) and serum lipids in Chinese health check-up populations. Methods A total of 169 251 individuals who received health check-up during 2009 in 65 health check-up centers nationwide were enrolled in this study. The correlation of cigarette smoking, daily physical activity, and alcohol consumption with FBG, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ( LDL-C ), total cholesterol ( TC ), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ( HDL-C ) , and triglyceride ( TC ) were analyzed. Results The rates of current cigarette smoking, sufficient daily physical activity, and over-intake of alcohol were 37.2% , 42. 8% , and 25.9%, respectively, which showed significant impacts on FBG and serum lipid level. Conclusions Lifestyles may play a role in serum level of FBG and lipid profiles. Quitting cigarette smoking, reducing alcohol consumption, and increasing physical exercises could help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. |
