Effect of Serum Uric Acid on Cognitive Function

Alzheimer＇s disease（AD） and Parkinson＇s disease（PD） are common neurodegenerative diseases in older people. Cognitive imparement is a major clinical manifestations of AD. In the development of PD（ especially in advanced stage PD） it may be cornbined with dementia,which is called Parkinsong disease dementia. Based on the findings of various studies, 17% -57% of the patients with PD are combined with cognitive impairment. Researching the relevant factors of cognitive function is very important to prevent AD and may improve the quality of life in patients with PD. Based on the results discovered in recent years, serum uric acid levels are thought to be closely related to cognitive function.
