CONSECUTIVE DETECTION OF SERUM IgG,IgA and IgM IN PATIENTS WITH GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME

consecutive detection of IgG,IgAand IgM was performed in sera of 22patients with Guillain-Barre Syn-drome(GBS).It was found that theevel of IgG,IgA and IgM were allsignificantly increased in the earlyphase of the disease and they weredecreased to normal level in convale-scence except for IgA which wascomparatively later than others,corresponding to dynamic features ofthe antibodies appeared after infec-tion and before onset of GBS.Theincrement of IgM was probably cau-sed by complication of infectionduring hospitalization and the levelof total immunoglobulin both inacute and convalescence seemed notto be related with the severity ofillness,but it was related to thedescending speed of IgG in acute ph-ase,when the descending speed wasslower,paralysis of limbs was light-er and restorative time was shorter,contrarily when it was faster,thedisease became much more severe andlonger in duration of illness.
