Laser Peripheral Iridoplasty

Angle-closure is the main causes of ocular hypertension in angle-closure glaucoma. For many years laser peripheral iridoplasty is a simple and an effective means of opening closed angle when laser iridotomy can not be performed or dose not physically eliminate angle closure. The procedure consists of placing contraction burns (long duration, low power, and long spot size) at the extreme iris periphery to contract the iris stroma between the site of the burn, therefore the angle is physically opened. This method is extremely useful in reversing an attack of angle-closure glaucoma when medical treatment fails.
