| Abstract: | RationalePermissive hypercapnia is established in lung injury management. Therapeutic hypercapnia causes benefit or harm, depending on the context. Ventilator-associated lung injury has a wide spectrum of candidate mechanisms, affording multiple opportunities for intervention such as hypercapnia to exert benefit or harm. |
