| Abstract: | Propranolol at 30-60 mg orally daily is provenby theohepatogram to lower portal hypertension incirrhotic portal hypertensives as effectively as shunttherapy in 51 appropriately selected patients. Thedrug mechanism of action and long-term therapy sideeffects required further study, immediate side effectsentailed only weakness in a few patients. |
