Analysis on the human immunodeficiency virus antibody testing in general hospital in Shantou city

Objective To understand the prevalence of HIV infection in general hospital in our city and provide the base for AIDS prevention and control. Methods Through double antigen sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and immunochromatographic rapid diagnosis reagent, 99 010 cases from January 2005 to December 2010 were taken screening, rechecking and confirmed rest for HIV antibody. Results Of all the 99 010 cases, 40 patients were HIV antibody positive, the rate of infection was 0.04％. The number of positive cases increased from 2005 to 2010. There were more patients HIV positive in internal medicine (28 cases postive in 31 510 patients) and the positive rate was 0.09％, accounted for 70.00％ in total number. Conclusions The rate of HIV infection showed an upward trend in our hospital, especially in internal medicine patients, the prevetion and control for AIDS should be paid much attention.
