Abstract:A 1 year, prospective study to assess results using a partially hydroxyapatite coated, bipolar hemiarthroplasty to manage displaced, subcapital neck of femur fractures in the elderly was undertaken at our district general hospital. The functional and radiological outcomes were assessed then compared and contrasted with those of previous studies. This study suggests that use of the Corin CtiII hemiarthroplasty for displaced, subcapital; fractured neck of femur gives good functional results, comparable with those of other prostheses for hemiarthroplasty. The study also highlighted the need for a smaller stem size, which the manufacturer has since implemented.
