| Abstract: | Objective To investigate the expression profile of OX40L in patients with chronic hepatitis C(CHC) and its clinical significance.Methods Peripheral blood samples from 35 CHC patients and 30 healthy controls(HC) were collected.The frequency of OX40L-positive monocytes was analyzed using flow cytometry and its correlation with liver biochemical indicators was evaluated as well.Results OX40L expression was significantly up-regulated on circulating monocytes in CHC patients compared with HC.The OX40L up-regulation was correlated with an elevation of serum alanine aminotransaminase and HCV RNA.In addition,both HCV Core and NS3 antigens could strongly promote expression of OX40L on monocytes.Conclusions OX40L is up-regulated preferen-tially on monocytes in CHC patients and the up-regulated expression of OX40L on circulating monocytes may act as a potential indicator for liver inflammation,which might facilitate the diagnosis of CHC patients. |
