| Abstract: | An enzyme avidin-biotin assay for the detection of anti-HBcAg antibody in human sera was developed. The assay uses genetically engineered HBcAg. HBcAg is immobilized on the surface of the wells of microtitre plates and the test serum sample, biotin-labelled HBcAg and streptavidin-labelled horseradish peroxidase are added. The assay was found to be specific and was compared with a commercial radioimmunoassay kit for sensitivity by testing 96 human clinical sera for anti-HBcAg antibody. Both assays gave identical results. |
