Clinical Study on Jiaoqi Powder Combined with Cocktail Therapy for Recessive Blood Loss in Total Knee Arthroplasty of Patients with Advanced Knee Osteoarthritis

Objective:To explore the clinical efficacy of Jiaoqi Powder(胶七散)combined with cocktail therapy for recessive blood loss and postoperative rehabilitation of patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis after total knee arthroplasty.Methods:Seventy-six patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis scheduled to undergo total knee arthroplasty were included and randomized into treatment group and control group,38 patients in each group.After preoperative examination,all the patients received total knee arthroplasty surgery by the same surgeons and treated with intra-articular cocktail therapy(tranexamic acid3 g plus diluted-epinephrine 0.25 mg in 50 mL normal saline).Both groups were given the anticoagulation,local ice compress and postoperative rehabilitation therapy.The treatment group was further treated with oral administration of Jiaoqi Powder,which is composed of Sanqi(Radix et Rhizoma Notoginseng)powder 6 g and Ejiao(Colla Corii Asini)powder 6 g,from 3 days before operation to one week after operation.The total blood loss,dominant blood loss,recessive blood loss,rate of allogeneic blood transfusion,adverse event,length of hospital stay and rehabilitation were observed and compared.Results:There were no differences on dominant blood loss,rate of allogeneic blood transfusion,the duration of straight leg lifting and adverse events between treatment group and control group,without statistical difference(P>0.05).On total blood loss,recessive blood loss and length of hospital stay,Hospital for Special Surgery Knee Score 3 months after operation,the treatment group was better than the control group,with statistical difference(P<0.05).Conclusion:Jiaoqi Powder combined with cocktail therapy can reduce total blood loss and recessive blood loss for patients with advanced knee osteoarthritis during perioperative period of total knee arthroplasty,which is also good for postoperative rehabilitation.
