Abstract:Objective:Low-frequency electrical stimulation and alternative stimulation to flexors and extensor were applied to the acupoints and muscles of the affected hand and wrist, thus to explore the effect of this therapy on the acivities of hand and wrist after stroke.Methods:60 patients with hand dysfunction after stroke were randomly divided into the treatment group(low-frequency electro-acupuncture)and the control group(electro-acupuncture).The treatment was once a day,6 days per week for a total of 4 weeks.Lindmark wrist motor function score, modified Barthel index upper limb score and China Stroke Scale score were selected for clinical efficacy evaluation. Results:After the treatment, both groups were improved in terms of hand gripping function. The scores of Lindmark, modified Barthel index and China Stroke Scale were significantly improved in the treatment group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The application of low-frequency electrical stimulation and alternative stimulation to flexors and extensor can promote the reconstruction of hand function in stroke patients.
Keywords:Stroke  Low-frequency electrical stimulation to acupoints  Flexors and extensors  Electro-acupuncture therapy  Hand function
