Abstract:Objective:To invest igate the app lication of quantitative susceptibility mapping in the brain iron content of autistic children.Methods:Forty normal children aged 2~3 and 3~4 years old from June to December 2018 were prospectively selected as the control group.Forty autistic children aged 2~3 and 3~4 years old from January 2019 to October 2020 were prospectively selected as the study group.All children underwent routine head MRI scanning and enhanced T2*-weighted magnetic resonance angiography(ESWAN)sequence scanning,and ESWAN sequence images were processed by software to obtain magnetic susceptibility map.The regions of interest of bilateral frontal gray and white matter,caudate nucleus,globus pallidus,thalamus,putamen,red nucleus,substantia nigra,pons,dentate nucleus,and splenium of corpus callosum were manually delineated and the magnetic susceptibility values were obtained.The difference of brain magnetic susceptibility between two groups at the same age was compared.Results:In the 2~3 years old group,the magnetic susceptibility values of various parts of the brain in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),the magnetic susceptibility values of caudate nucleus,dentate nucleus and splenium of corpus callosum in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).In the 3~4 years old group,the magnetic susceptibility values of various parts of the brain in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05),the magnetic susceptibility values of frontal white matter,caudate nucleus,red nucleus,substantia nigra,dentate nucleus and splenium of corpus callosum in the study group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion:The content of iron in the brain of autistic children is lower than that of normal children,which has clinical significance.
