Association between pregnancy outcome of transferred euploid embryo and female age

Objective:To explore the association between female age and pregnancy outcome of euploid embryo transfer screened by preimplantation genetic testing(PGT).Methods:The data of 344 cycles screened by PGT in the first cycle and the corresponding frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles were collected in the reproductive center of Northwest Women’s&Children’s Hospital from January 2015 to October 2019 were analyzed retrospectively.The women were divided into four groups according to the age at embryo transfer:group A(age<30 years,n=155);group B(30-34 years,n=145);group C(35-37 years,n=31);group D(age≥38 years,n=13).The clinical pregnancy rate,abortion rate and live birth rate were compared among the groups.Results:There were no significant differences in body mass index(BMI),basal hormone levels(FSH,LH,E 2)from day 2 to day 4 of menstruation,antral follicular count(AFC),normal fertility rate,Day 3 embryo formation rate and detection rate of euploid embryo among the four groups(P>0.05).The blastocyst formation rate was declined gradually with female age(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in clinical pregnancy rate,abortion rate or live birth rate among the four groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:There was no significant difference in pregnancy outcome among the women at different age after transplantation of euploid embryos.It is speculated indirectly that the main reason for the decrease of pregnancy rate and the increase of abortion rate in elderly pregnant women may be the increase of aneuploidy rate of embryos.
