Abstract:OBJECTIVE To explore current status and future trend in the emerging field of osteoporotic fracture(OPF).METHODS The relevant literatures of OPF were retrieved from Science Citation Index-Expanded Web of Science from 1994 to 2018.Bisphosphonates were employed for collating the source data.For visualizing the OPF researches, VOS viewer software was utilized for analyzing bibliographic association, co-authorship, co-occurrence and publishing trends.RESULTS A total of 3,879 reports were included.The numbers of publications and research hotspots were rising annually.The United States had the highest contribution rate to global researches.Osteoarthritis and cartilage periodicals showed the highest publishing rate.University of Sheffield, University of California, San Francisco and University of Liege were the most productive institutions.Research fell into four categories of mechanism, animal, clinical trial and tissue engineering.Clinical research in this field was expected to be the next hot topic.CONCLUSION According to current trends, the number of OPF publications shall continuously increase.Application of bisphosphonates is probably a hot topic in OPF and drug developments.
