Abstract: | There is some evidence that unidentified factors might play a role in the initial events of acute gouty arthritis. Serum interferon activity was found to be high in several arthritides; interferon stimulates the production of prostaglandin E, an established mediator of inflammation. It is postulated that interferon can play a role in the pathogenesis of an acute gouty arthritis. |
