| Abstract: | The right gastroepiploic artery (RGA) and the internal thoracic artery (ITA) were investigated in 38 adult cadavers, and histological examination and stereological measurement of RGA and ITA were also performed in 30 of them. The length of RGA and ITA was 27. 97 cm and 19. 89 cm respectively. The external diameter was 4. 11mm and 4. 29mm at 0. 5 cm from their origins. The vasa vasorum were confined only to the adventitia. The smooth muscles of RGA was thicker, but the elastic fibers fewer than ITA. The results indicate that RGA is more suitable to be used as grafted artery than others besides ITA. |
