The analysis of osteoporosis prevalence at lumbar and hip mass measurement sites in 1087 patients

AIM：To discuss the effect of measuring sites to diagnosis of osteoporosis.METHODS: 1087 subjects were measured at both hip and lumbar vertebra sites by DEXA. T4-L4 X-ray were taken and the compressive fracture person were screened. To compare osteoporosis prevalence at different site and determine which site was sensitive to diagnosis of osteoporosis. RESULTS:BMD in both site was gradually decreasing with age increasing.BMD of female was lower than that of male. The prevalence of osteoporosis at hip was higher than that at lumbar vetetra for men and the prevalence of osteoporosis at lumber was higher that that at hip in women. CONCLUSION:BMD at lumbar vetebra as a indicator to diagnosis of osteoporosis is better than BMD at hip for women.
