| Abstract: | An electroanalytical chemistry method, the Cathodic StridPing Voltammetryof 2.5th Order Defferential, was applied for the detection of serum selenium ( Se ) . The Procedure was carried out in the medium of 4.5 M HC1 and the working electrode was a hanging mercury drop electrode of model JM-01. The minimal detectable Quantity of selenium by the method was 0.05 PPb, so the accuracy and precision of the method meets the requirement of trace quantitative analysis. By usiug this method, the serum selenium concentration in 31 patients with lung cancer and 11 healthy controls was determined.Results showed that serum selenium concentration in the Patient group was significantly lower then in the control ( p<0.001 ) . The effect of serum selenium on the Pathogenesis of cancer and the therapeutic Potential of supplementary selenium in Preventing and curing it are discussed. |
