Abstract:Beta-trace protein, beta2-microglobulin and prealbumin were identified in a cerebrospinal fluid fraction containing proteins enriched in CSF-characteristic proteins obtained through affinity chromatography. The prealbumin amount was somewhat higher among CSF-enriched proteins from ventricular CSF than in the same fraction from lumbar CSF. Otherwise no variations in the CSF-enriched protein pattern were found in a ventriculo-spinal CSF-gradient analysed with isoelectric focusing. Affinity chromatography was done using insolubilized antisera against human serum proteins or against human cerebrum. Soluble brain proteins were analysed similarly and compared to the CSF-enriched protein pattern.
