Curative effectiveness of surgical treatment for children with gartland Ⅲ supracondylar fractures of humerus

Objective To research the clinical efficacy of three different surgical methods for Gartland Ⅲsupracondylar fractures of humerus. Methods A total of 108 patients with Gartland Ⅲ supra- condylar fractures of humerus were divided into three groups in terms of the operative approaches in the humerus ： the inside approach was performed on 42 cases （ group A）, the outside approach on 36 cases （group B） and the rear approach on 30 cases （ group C）. The clinical efficacy of three different surgical procedures and the reduction of the stretching and bending function of elbow joint and incidence of elbow varus were compared. Results The curative effectiveness of three groups was as follows ： excellent effec- tiveness in 38 cases of group A,30 cases of group B, 11 cases of group C ;The reduction of stretching and bending function of elbow joint occurred in 7 cases in group A,7 cases in group B and 23 cases in group C;The elbow varus occurred in 11 cases in group A,20 cases in group B and 6 cases in group C. Conclusion The curative effectiveness is better by the inside approach or the outside approach than the rear ap- proach; The incidence of outside group is higher on the varus of elbow; The incidence of the disability of el- bow joint stretching and bending in rear group is higher ;The inside approach is a preferred clinical treatment method.
