Abstract:
Keywords:Thyroid surgery can range from excision of a simple nodule to removal of retrosternal goitre to relieve tracheal compression.    A computed tomography scan is advisable when the patient gives a history indicative of airway encroachment (e.g. positional dyspnoea).    Recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy may be unilateral or bilateral and present with respiratory difficulty or stridor.    Long-standing goitre may be associated with tracheomalacia.
