Abstract: | Pathologic anatomy of 56 cases of pancrea-titis is reported. 49 (94.2To) of 52 pathologicallyanalysed cases are hemorrhagic type. The cha-racteristic changes of acute hemorrhagic pan-creatitis are severe and extensive pancreaticcytolytic necrosis followed by hemorrhage andfatty necrolsis of varying degrees. The inflam-matory pro'cess may extend to the peripancrea-tic organs s.uch as the mesentery, peritonealcavity and perinephric fa.tty tissue. The mois.tstriking changes outs.ide the pancreas are acutepulmonary edema, acute cardiac muscle frag-mentation and congestion and petechial hemor-thage of various organs, particularly the lungs,heart, duodenum and suprarenal gland. Stressduodenal ulcers also occur sometimes. The cause of pancreatic shock and patho-genesis are tliscussed. |
