Analysis on the correlation between the self - efficacy level and the quality of life of patients with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

Objective To analyze the correlation between the quality of life and the self - efficacy of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease （COPD） ,then to provide the theory frame for the intervention based on the Self - efficacy Theory. Methods A total of 68 cases with COPD were investigated with the St George ＂s Respiratory Questionnaire （ SGRQ ） and the COPD Self - efficacy Scale （ CSES ）. Results The total score of self - efficacy was （ 80.50 ±11. 15 ） and the self - efficacy of COPD patients was at a moderate level. The overall SGRQ scores was（51.26 ± 14.45 ）. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the overall score of sell - efficacy and it＇s dimensions score were negatively related with the overall SGRQ score and its three dimensions score （ P 〈 O. Ol or P 〈 0.05 ）. Conclusion The level of self - efficacy of COPD patients was not at a high level. To improve the patient＇s physical functional status and quality of life, the clinical and community health workers should improve the self - efficacy level of patients on disease management by various means, and enhance the establishment of self - management behaviors, and ultimately improve the patient health status.
