Influence of One-Time Root Canal Therapy and Multiple Root Canal Therapy on Alveolar Bone Mineral Density

Objective To explore the influence of one-time root canal therapy and multiple root canal therapy on alveolar bone mineral density.Methods 64 patients with periapical periodontitis from January 2015 to December 2018 were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group,with 32 cases in each group.The observation group was given one-time root canal therapy,and the control group was given multiple root canal therapy.The effect of root canal filling,pain,follow-up visit,efficacy and were compared between the two groups,and Alveolar bone mineral density in apical lesions after treatment were compared between the two groups.Results No statistical difference was found in the rates of unfilled,overfilled,flush filled canals and the VAS score between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with the control group,the pain duration of the observation group was shorter,and the follow-up visit times were fewer(P<0.05).No statistical difference was found in the total effective rate between the two groups(P>0.05).After 3 months and 6 months of treatment,the alveolar bone mineral density of the two groups increased(P<0.05);No statistical difference was found in the alveolar bone mineral density after 1 month,3 months and 6 months of treatment between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions One-time root canal therapy has similar efficacy,filling effect and improvement effect of alveolar bone mineral density with multiple root canal therapy,and can shorten the pain duration and reduce the follow-up visit times,which is worthy of promotion.
