An analysis and study of some ancient philosophy and medical books such as THE BOOK OF CHANGES, HUANGDI'S INTERNAL CLASSICS, and TREATISE ON EXOGENOUS FEBRILE DISEASES have to revealed that the "theory of six channels" and "differential diagnosis in accordance with the theory of six channels" have gradually gone through a complex course of generation and growth. This theory is the heritage and changes of ancient philosophy and medical science before Han dynasty in combination with clinical experiences and thoughts of ZHANG Zhong jing. His dialectical theory originated from the dialectical thoughts and knowledge of things in THE BOOK OF CHANGES. His medical theory stemmed from HUANGDI'S INTERNAL CLASSICS, in which the rudimentary theories laid the foundation for "differential diagnosis in accordance with the theory of six channels". A combination of the two and thoughts of ZHANG Zhong jing have jointly brought into being the systematic "theory of six channels" and "differential diagnosis in accordance with the theory of six channels".
