387 Cases of AIDS Patients With Irregular Antibodies Lead to Incompatible Results Using Two Different Blood Analysis Methods

Objective To investigate the influence of the irregular antibody types and properties of AIDS patients to the results of two kinds of blood cross matching methods.Method From January to December 2010,387 cases of AIDS patients who received blood transfusion in Nanning Fourth People's Hospital were included in this study.Polybrene and micro-column gel methods were used in blood cross matching and irregular antibody screening test,respectively.The irregular antibody positive rate,blood cross matching mismatched rate,the sensitivity of these two kinds of matching methods,and irregular antibody types and properties were observed.The study protocol was approved by the Ethical Review Board of Investigation in Human Being of Nanning Fourth People′s Hospital.Informed consents were obtained from all participants.Results ① 182 cases with irregular antibodies were detected by micro column gel method with the non-consistent rate of 47.03 ％(182/387).11 cases with irregular antibodies were detected by polybrene method with non-consistent rate of 2.84％(11/387).② The sensitivity was significant difference between two kinds of matching methods(x2 =9.6,P＜0.005).③Irregular antibodies were low affinity,small molecular antibodies with the type of IgG+C3d+ IgA+,IgM,or anti-IgG,anti-C3d,antiIgA,and anti-IgM.Conclusion Because of the different types and properties of irregular antibody of AIDS patients,the results of two kinds of matching methods were not the same.
