The expression levels of serum tumor markers in patients with advanced gastric cancer in different degrees of differentiation:a comparative study

Objective To investigate and analyze the expression levels of serum tumor markers in patients with advanced gastric cancer at different degrees of differentiation.Methods A retrospective study was performed on 86 patients with advanced gastric cancer who were admitted to the Clinical Laboratory of the Third People′s Hospital of Changzhi City from April 2017 to April 2020.There were 45 males and 41 females,aged(65.20±1.88)years old,ranging 58 to 69 years old.According to the different degree of differentiation,the patients were divided into the medium differentiation group(n=41)and the low differentiation group(n=45).The levels of serum tumor markers in the two groups were compared before treatment,and all patients received chemotherapy.The levels of serum tumor markers in the two groups under different therapeutic effects after chemotherapy were compared.Results The level of carbohydrate antigen19-9(CA 199)is(71.25±57.97)μg/L],carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA)is(24.21±30.98)μg/L],cancer-associated carbohydrate antigen 72-4(CA 724)is(34.25±20.77)μg/L]and cancer-associated carbohydrate antigen 12-5(CA 125)is(15.43±12.70)μg/L]in the low differentiation group were lower than those in the medium differentiation group(84.30±53.25)μg/L,(38.95±35.25)μg/L,(45.89±20.95)μg/L and(22.98±20.35)μg/L],and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the effective rate of chemotherapy between the two groups(P>0.05).The levels of CA 199(10.47±22.89)μg/L],CEA(6.48±12.55)μg/L],CA 724(6.27±3.58)μg/L]and CA 125(6.28±3.60)μg/L]in patients with complete remission in low differentiation group were lower than those in moderate differentiation group(85.69±105.69)μg/L,(35.89±40.59)μg/L,(39.48±50.28)μg/L and(25.60±20.98)μg/L];CA 199(11.50±50.51)μg/L],CEA(8.35±42.6)μg/L],CA 724(6.31±4.69)μg/L]and CA 125(6.36±4.81)μg/L]levels in patients with partial remission in the low differentiation group were lower than those in the medium differentiation group(82.42±101.67)μg/L,(33.59±39.62)μg/L,(38.15±46.98)μg/L,(24.86±16.98)μg/L],and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the level of tumor markers in patients with disease progression between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion The expression level of serum tumor markers is low in patients with gastric cancer with low differentiation degree.After chemotherapy,the level of serum tumor markers in patients with gastric cancer with different differentiation degree will also be reduced.
